Chairman of the Board
What a wonderful year we had in 2011. It was an honor to have the opportunity to serve the South Dakota Jaycees in 2011 as your 75th State President. We managed to not lose any of our wonderful chapters during the year. We had some very strong leaders within the chapters that helped their communities and members to grow and thrive in 2011. As I was in attendance at the year end convention this past weekend, I got the opportunity to find out just how far our chapters reached out, some even stepping outside their comfort zones in attempts to bring comradery back to South Dakota. The Greater Dakota Valley chapter had an event that included having dinner with members of not only another chapter, but another chapter in a different state. Events like this is what brings this great organization together and allows chapters to talk to each other and get new ideas.
While we experienced a lot of changes in 2011. I know that these are the changes that will ensure that the Jaycees continue to be the best leadership organization to be a part of. I have to say I was very impressed that for the first time in a few years we had competitors in more than one area of competitions. We even had someone who has only been a Jaycee for two months step up and compete. The trainings were fun and filled with a lot of people. If you were unable to attend this convention please plan to be at the next one, maybe ask President Jamie what her GPS training was about.
Without you, the members we could not have accomplished the fundraising, trainings, meetings, and projects that we did over 2011. I know that this will continue and become even stronger in 2012 as it is "Time to Rise." Thank you once again for everything you have done in 2011. A team is only as good as its members and you all made our team strong. If you have any ideas or questions please feel free to contact me. I am still only a phone call away. Thank you all.
